The Original Marathon Trilogy is coming to Steam
You can already play the first game for free, with the other two marked as coming soon.
Bungie shared on Twitter that the Aleph One community is bringing the original Marathon Trilogy to Steam. They have already published the first one, while the other two are still marked as coming soon.
Today, we're thrilled to announce that the Aleph One community is bringing the original 1994-1996 Marathon Trilogy to Steam starting with Marathon 1.

Thank you to the Marathon community for your support over the years. We couldn't do it without you.

The first game is already available on Steam and is completely free, with the other two likely to follow, though the three are already available to download from their site; the reason for bringing the game to Steam is likely to provide easier access to those who use this platform more frequently, as well as add a few other improvements for the more modern computers, such as widescreen HUD support, 3D filtering/perspective, positional audio, and 60+ fps interpolation, but overall, the experience should be the same.
The other two games in the Trilogy, Marathon 2 and Marathon Infinity, will also become available eventually, with the same improvements as Classic Marathon; they will also have the "Classic" on their names on Steam.
Bungie is also reviving the franchise with a new Marathon game, which will be a completely new style, changing the genre to an Extraction shooter, which coincidentally, was announced nearly a year before this one, on May 2023, so maybe some news about the new Marathon coming soon, like an update in development on the anniversary of the announcement, or in the PlayStation Showcase, which might happen around the same date.
Playing the classic trilogy might not be necessary to play the new Marathon game they are developing, but it was stated that it would definitely add to the experience, as the new Marathon, while separate from the original trilogy, it will share the same universe, so some easter eggs and maybe other kinds of references will be present on the game.
