Metroid Prime 4 is finally coming to Nintendo Switch
After five years since it restarted development, we finally got more info on Metroid Prime 4.
Nintendo has revealed on the Nintendo Direct of June 2024 the Trailer for Metroid 4: Beyond after several years of silence after its original announcement in 2017 and the restart of development in 2019, now showing gameplay and a release window of 2025.
Considering that the Nintendo Switch's Successor will be revealed within this Fiscal year, it is possible that this game will be a cross-generation release. It will likely have better performance on the next console but few differences between versions so that owners of the Switch version don't miss out on the experience.
The trailer depicts what seems to be the beginning of the game, where Samus arrives at a Galactic Federation research facility under invasion by space pirates. Alternatively, Samus may have limited equipment during the trailer in order to conceal potential game upgrades, and this event could occur later in the game.
Near the end of the trailer, a "new" character appears; this is most definitely Sylux, a Bounty Hunter who despises the Galactic Federation that appears in the Nintendo DS game Metroid Prime: Hunters; his appearance was teased during Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Metroid Prime: Federation Force though he had no relevance then, though this does indicate that fans that haven't played the DS and 3DS Metroid Prime games should familiarize themselves with those games plots, to have a better understanding, or at least to understand possible references to those games.
Metroid Prime 4 was announced in 2017, with Bandai Namco Studios Developing it instead of Retro Studios, which had developed the previous games in the series, but in 2019, Nintendo announced that the game wasn't meeting their standards and decided to restart development, this time with Retro Studios; after that, there had been barely any news related to the game until this trailer.
