Nightdive Studios, the people behind remasters like System Shock, or more recently, Quake 2, has announced two more Remasters they are working on, and one of them is Star Wars: Dark Forces.
Star Wars: Dark Forces is a pretty old game, a classic first-person shooter in the setting of Star Wars; judging by the trailer, you could guess that the original game was from the era when tons of Doom clones were coming out left and right, but this one was certainly different enough, being a Star Wars game, it featured lots of Star Wars scenarios and enemies.
The game, being a remaster, will feature a lot of improvements in cutscenes and designs while also adding support for up to 4K 120fps (definitely on PC, probably on PS5 and Xbox Series X), modern gamepad support, Achievements, and Trophies for the platforms that have those, and more yet to be revealed.
A current release date has yet to be announced, but they did say that it will be revealed later this year; there is still no guarantee that the game will come out in 2023.
The remaster of Star Wars: Dark Forces will be available on all current platforms: PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Nightdive Studios has become well known for their remasters and ports of classic games, especially shooters, as they have worked in many of them. They have also announced that they will release a Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion remaster later this year.
