Overwatch 2 is getting rid of paywalled heroes
Starting Season 10, every character from the game will be unlocked for everyone.
Overwatch 2 will be getting some interesting changes when Season 10 starts, like the introduction of Venture, the game's first Non-binary Playable character, and one of the most significant changes to the game: Heroes will no longer be locked behind paywalls or tedious tasks.
In Overwatch, all heroes were always available for free, but players had to spend hours progressing through the Battle Pass to unlock them. If players wanted to speed up the process, they could pay to unlock heroes earlier. However, starting in season 10, which comes in mid-April, all heroes will be immediately available to players, including any new heroes that are added. Unfortunately, players who paid to unlock heroes early in previous seasons will not receive a refund or any other benefit.
In Season 10, a new feature called the Mythic Shop will be introduced in the game. This shop will allow you to unlock Mythic Skins in a more convenient way, so you can work towards the skins that you actually want to unlock. Additionally, you will also be able to get skins from previous seasons that you might have missed for any reason. The shop will add a skin after two seasons from its release, so when it launches, it will have skins from seasons 1-7, and the next season will be adding those from season 8.
Some other smaller changes coming to Season 10 would be the coins and weekly challenges, as these will be easier to get by progressing the Battle Pass, both the Free and premium one, as well as changing the free coins limit from 540 to 600 coins per season; weekly challenges will now reward Battle Pass XP and will be more accommodating to your play style.
There is no exact release date for Season 10, but it is expected to launch in mid-April.
