Killer Instinct is releasing an Anniversary Edition Update/Upgrade
Free-to-play version is coming to Steam, and the paid version is getting replaced with the Anniversary Edition.
The latest Killer Instinct game is celebrating its 10th Anniversary, and because of that, they are releasing the game's Anniversary Edition, including the free-to-play version coming to Steam.
The Anniversary Edition will be an Update/Upgrade to the 2013 game, as it will include an update fixing and balancing the game along with the upgrade to the Anniversary edition.
When will the Anniversary Edition come out?
They didn't specify in the announcement when this update will come out, but they did say that they would announce the release date as soon as possible.
What will happen to other Killer Instinct Editions?
They are changing every edition to the Anniversary Edition, and they will be adding a Free-to-play version to Steam; Killer Instinct Definitive Edition will be replaced with the Anniversary Edition with a cost of 29.99 USD.
Players who got the Killer Instinct Definitive Edition will be upgraded for free, and they get to keep the Definitive Edition benefits, which are the Definitive Edition App (featuring developer interviews, concept art, and Killer Cuts soundtrack) and KI Classic 1 & 2 on their Xbox.
The Steam Version will receive the same treatment; besides releasing the free-to-play version, which features one free weekly rotating Fighter and Single-Player, Local, and Ranked modes, the purchase-only version will be replaced with the Anniversary Edition with a cost of 29.99 USD, and players who already had the game will be upgraded for free.
