Xbox Game Pass is changing its Console Plan and increasing prices
New subscribers will have some benefits removed but will get to play online without needing to up/downgrade.
Xbox has announced that it will be increasing the prices of its Game Pass services and making changes to its console plan by removing it from the stores and offering instead Xbox Game Pass Standard, a similar subscription but with some different benefits.
Compared to Xbox Game Pass Console, Xbox Game Pass Standard will now include Online play access but will have a more limited library, as Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will now be the only way to enjoy day one releases and a few other exclusives.
Current Xbox Game Pass Console subscribers will remain with their existing plan for a while, but as soon as they stop renewing, it will no longer become available. Redeemable codes will stay useable for the foreseeable future, but after September 18th, 2024, players won't be able to stack over 13 months of Game Pass Console. Those with more than that won't be affected but won't be able to add more months.
The other Subscriptions will also have their prices affected; new subscribers will now have to pay more to obtain Game Pass Ultimate/Core/PC, while those with automatic renewal won't see the price increase until after the payment after September 12th, 2024. This means that the price will remain the same in July, August, and early September, but any renewal on September 12th or after will be with the updated price.
The Price increase will affect the 12-month plan of Game Pass Core, with a few countries exempt, while the shorter plans will remain at their current price for most countries. Check the list of price changes if you want to see how your country was affected.
As of now, Game Pass Console has disappeared from the store for new subscribers. Game Pass Core and Ultimate are the only offerings for console players; Game Pass Standard will be added in the coming months, but the date has yet to be released.
