E3 is confirmed permanently canceled
Cancelled as in the real term, they will no longer organize this event from now on.
Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3, has been officially declared dead, meaning that there won't be any more events from them in the future; though expected, this is still sad news for those who share the memories of this event.

E3 was not doing that well in the last few years, as more and more companies opted out from making their announcements at this event, and eventually not having this event happening at all.
This event was hugely popular during most of its lifetime as tons of game developers, publishers, and the like were always making huge announcements there; some even claim that they wouldn't make it this big if it weren't for E3, like Hideo Kojima for example, who talks about how Japanese creators benefitted a lot from this event.
The end of E3 is sad news; we exhibited "MGS" for the first time in Atlanta in 1987. I have participated every year since then. Especially the presentation of "MGS2" in 2000 is a precious memory. It was 23 years ago. Without E3, Japanese creators and titles would not have made it to the world as much as they have. It was easy to connect with people from all over the world by attending parties and conferences. I have nothing but gratitude. Thank you, E3!

While E3 is no longer happening, several other similar events have been slowly taking place since a couple of years back, so it's not like the experience is completely gone; it's just that it won't be the same.
