Ruin Serpent, strategies, weak points, and achievements

The Ruin Serpent is a Boss found in the Chasm. It is accessible only after progressing the Chasm Delvers series of Quests up the Chasm Spelunkers quest; defeating it will reward you with Runic Fangs and Geo Ascension crystals.

Strategy

The Ruin Serpent is most resistant to Physical attacks but not to any other kind of damage, so bring any element you prefer.

For this Boss fight, you need to equip the Lumenstone Adjuvant you get from the Chasm Delvers Questline during the fight. It must be at least level 2 to have the power to destroy the Oozing Concretions it summons.

You can do the fight without this gadget, but it will take way too long for you to defeat the Boss.

The Oozing Concretions, apart from being a hindrance, are used by the Ruin Serpent for a powerful attack, so be sure to destroy them whenever you can.

Sometimes during the fight, some yellow rocks will appear. If you destroy them, they recharge your Lumenstone Adjuvant by three points, so keep an eye out if you need them.

This Boss moves a lot and hides underground at times, so you better reserve your strongest attacks for the Paralyzed state of the Serpent.

Weak Point

When the Ruin Serpent absorbs the Oozing Concretions for its attacks, it will expose its cores in the segments near its head. You can try your luck and shoot all four of them, and the oversized snake will be paralyzed; the Boss will be moving the whole time it is charging its attack, so destroying the cores might prove difficult.

Destroying an Oozing Concretion that the snake is absorbing will destroy two cores, so if you leave two of these and destroy them while it is absorbing them, it will also trigger the Paralyzed state.

Achievements

Overflowing Light

Destroy 2 Oozing Concretions with 1 Blooming Light during a battle against the Ruin Serpent.

Whenever Oozing Concretions appear, two of them appear almost next to each other; it is best to have the Lumenstone Adjuvant at level 8, which increases the Blooming Light's reach, stand between the Concretions, and activate the gadget.

Ouroboros

Destroy Oozing Concretions to paralyze the Ruin Serpent while it is gathering energy.

You can get this achievement along with the previous one; leave these specific two concretions alone until the Serpent is absorbing them to charge its attack and destroy them at that moment.

Surpassing the Ancients' Wisdom

Defeat the Ruin Serpent in Co-Op Mode.
