Zhongli is a 5-star character, he wields polearms and has the Geo element, and he's the strongest shield in the game; because he's one of the earliest characters, you don't have to do a lot of unlocking to get materials.
Requirements for ascension
- Qiqi or Yanfei are recommended to have on the team for an easier time finding some materials
- Access to the Taishan Mansion Domain for Talent Level-up materials (Wed/Sat/Sun)
- Adventure Rank 40 or have Finished the Archon Quest Chapter I: Act III: A New Star Approaches for the Talent Level-up materials after Level 6 (weekly)
Where to get the Ascension Materials
Zhongli needs Cor Lapis and Basalt Pillars to be able to level up further when meeting certain level caps. Cor Lapis can be found all over Liyue, its the Yellow rocks, according to the Interactive Map there are about 161 all over Liyue and seven others inside The Chasm, so if you had none to start with, you could get enough to ascend him completely in one go. However, it is not advisable to do that if you value your time. If you have Qiqi or Yanfei, you can put either of them on your team to have an easier time finding Cor Lapis.

To get Basalt Pillars, you'll need to fight the Geo Hypostasis in Guyun Stone Forest; if you haven't fought it before, be sure to bring a Claymore user, they come in handy when the boss is out of reach but above fragile rocks.

How to Unlock the Taishan Mansion Domain
The Taishan Mansion Domain is locked behind a puzzle where you need to lower the water level to be able to enter the domain.
How to Level up Talents over Lv.6
Zhongli's Talents after Lv. 6 are Locked behind needing Tusk of Monoceros Caeli; these materials are only found by fighting Childe inside the Enter the Golden House domain, which you need to have completed the Archon Quest Chapter I: Act III - A New Star Approaches after this, you can fight him once a week for the rewards; if you haven't done the Quest, you can still do the challenge if you are Adventure Rank 40.
