Requirements for ascension
- Qiqi or Yanfei are recommended to have on the team for an easier time finding some materials
- Access to the Taishan Mansion Domain for Talent Level-up materials (Tues/Fri/Sun)
- Adventure Rank 40 or have Finished the Archon Quest Chapter I: Act III: A New Star Approaches for the Talent Level-up materials after Level 6 (weekly)
Where to get the Ascension Materials
In order to level up Hu Tao higher than certain level caps, you need to ascend her; the Ascension Materials are Silk Flowers and Juvenile Jade.
You can only find Silk flowers in Liyue Harbor and around Wangshu Inn, you can follow the interactive Map, and if you have Qiqi or Yanfei, you can put either of them in your team to use their passive talents, which shows Liyue’s specialties on your Minimap; if you are looking for merchants that sell them, you can find Ms. Bai in Qingce village, Verr Goldet in Wangshu Inn, and Qiuwei in port Ormos, Sumeru, each sells 5 of them and their inventory resets every three days.

To get Juvenile Jade, you have to do the Primo Geovishap Boss Fight, the fight is not too complicated, and if you have a shield, you can deal a lot of damage by returning the damage of one of his attacks.

The Taishan Mansion Domain is locked behind a puzzle where you need to lower the water level to be then able to enter the domain.
How to Level up Talents over Lv.6
Hu Tao’s Talents after Lv. 6 are Locked behind needing Shards of a Foul Legacy; these shards are only found by fighting Childe inside the Enter the Golden House domain, which you need to have completed the Archon Quest Chapter I: Act III: A New Star Approaches after this, you can fight Childe once a week for the rewards; if you haven't done the Quest, you can still do the challenge if you are Adventure Rank 40.
