First Person Shooters
XDefiant is not Pay to Win, you just pay to get things quicker
It's weird that they have to defend themselves before the game releases, as if they knew what's gonna happen.
In a blog post prior to the game's release, Ubisoft began defending the game's monetization philosophy, as they confirmed that you can get some game-impacting items by simply purchasing them, which could be considered pay-to-win, but technically it's not, because as they said, you can unlock them through gameplay, like the Dedsec faction, which you can buy or get 700k XP to unlock, how long it takes to get that much XP is up to the game, but it doesn't seem like an easy task.
We wanted to take some time to discuss our philosophy on monetization moving in to launch.

There are some claims from some who have played the tests that the cost to get the Dedsec Faction (700k XP) isn't too high, so depending on your skill level, getting that amount of XP might not be that big of an issue, and the option to pay is only there to save you a couple of hours of playtime.
For now, it doesn't seem that they have more things to this scale, and most of the other things they will be offering are purely cosmetic; there is no mention of special weapons or weapon mods being paywalled, though depending on how things play out, they might offer more things in the future if they see the players willingness to pay for free stuff.
XDefiant is a free-to-play game where multiple factions from their games confront each other; you can choose which faction you prefer and use their respective technologies to your advantage.
The game will have a starting roster of five Factions: Libertad from Far Cry 6, Phantoms from Ghost Recon, Echelon from Splinter Cell, Cleaners from The Division, and Dedsec from Watch Dogs. There will also be 14 maps and 25 weapons to choose from, with more to come in future seasons.
Xdefiant is releasing on May 21st for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Ubisoft Connect.
