Paper Mario: The Thousand-year Door is getting a remaster
The Twenty-year Paper Mario is coming to Switch.
Nintendo has announced during the Nintendo Direct that Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door will be getting a remaster.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is the second Paper Mario game to come out. It was released in 2004 for the Nintendo Gamecube, still very similar to the previous game, but focusing more on mechanics related to being made of paper, as shown in the trailer with Mario transforming into a paper plane or passing between a narrow gap by simply turning 90º, and now it will receive a remaster with improved graphics.
You can already play the first Paper Mario if you have a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription, meaning that you will be able to play Mario's first RPG games on the Nintendo Switch; having Mario RPG coming this November, Paper Mario already available, and now TTYD coming next year.
This was the second and last game to have somewhat proper RPG Mechanics, being able to level up and upgrade your stats; Super Paper Mario changed to the classic style of attacking the enemies in the overworld, Sticker Star and Color Splash have consumable items as your form of attack, and Origami King is a variation of that same mechanic.
