Marvel releases new trailer for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra
From what was shown, one might confuse it with a new movie, considering the cinematic trailer's Format.
Marvel and Skydance New Media have revealed a story trailer for their game set during World War II called Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra. Seeing the trailer's graphic quality and aspect ratio, one might confuse it with a movie.
Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra will feature four playable characters: Steve Rogers, AKA Captain America (played by Drew Moerlein); Azzuri, the WWII-era Black Panther (played by Khary Payton); Gabriel "Gabe" Jones (played by Marque Richardson), a U.S. soldier and member of the Howling Commandos; and Nanali (played by Megalyn Echikunwoke), a Wakandan spy; the story seems to be based on Black Panther/Captain America: Flags of Our Fathers where we see a similar team-up involving Captain America, King Azzuri (Black Panther), Nick Fury, and the Howling Commandos during the 1940s.
The game will be led by Amy Hennig, who has also worked as Creative director and writer for the early Uncharted games, which would be a sign of what to expect in terms of quality in the game's story. What is worrying is that since the announcement in 2022 and the reveal this time, there is no sign of gameplay. Some parts of the trailer might be gameplay, but there is no confirmation.
Skydance New Media currently has a limited game portfolio consisting of only two titles. These two games are Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra and an untitled Star Wars game. It is also rumored that the untitled Star Wars game is a revived version of a previously canceled game, which Hennig had previously worked on.
Rise of Hydra has no specific release date yet, but the trailer confirms that it will come out in 2025, though which platforms are yet to be confirmed; judging by the graphic quality, if it remains like that, it might not come out in last-gen consoles.
