Bungie confirms new release date for Destiny 2's expansion
They confirmed the delay and said that there will be more content while we wait for it.
In late October, Bungie had reportedly suffered massive layoffs, resulting in the apparent delay of both Destiny 2's next expansion and the game Marathon, though Bungie had yet to confirm these claims officially.
The release date for The Final Shape has moved to June 4, 2024 to allow for an even bigger and bolder vision.

New content available is also in development, including Destiny 2: Into the Light, a two-month content update for all players starting in April.https://t.co/cNAG0j1dlV pic.twitter.com/zvEhfeCNut
The Final Shape Expansion was initially intended to come out in February 2024, but now it has been delayed all the way to June 4th, 2024, resulting in a 3-4 month gap of content, so they have prepared a few more things to come in those months.
As per their announcement, there will be new content in February called Wishes, which will be weekly quests, then in March comes Guardian Games, with a focus on class vs. class competition, and on April they'll release a free two-month content update with the name Destiny 2: Into the Light.
PvP fans are not being left behind either, as they will also be releasing three new PvP maps in May. This way, all the months leading up to the expansion are covered, and it might ease the wait for those who are looking forward to it.
As for the other delayed project, Marathon had yet to reveal the release date, so October's report of it being delayed to 2025 doesn't affect much the expectations for the game.
