Bethesda announces biggest update yet for Starfield

Bethesda has announced the upcoming update for Starfield will be the largest yet, including over 100 fixes and improvements, such as quest fixes and other graphical enhancements, like the lighting in the character creation menu or ringed planets casting a shadow on its rings when seen from one of its moons.

The full patch notes will be revealed in more detail on January 17th, 2024, when the update rolls out on Steam Beta. Hopefully, this will provide more relevant information about the improvements rather than just better lighting, and additional widescreen support.

In December 2023, Bethesda released Starfield's latest update, which only included a few fixes apart from removing the bug that gave you pet rocks that follow your ship. However, they hinted at more things this year, including better transportation methods. The specifics of these methods are still unknown, but it's unlikely that they will involve space horses. Additionally, Bethesda announced that city maps and Mod support would be added this year, although none of these features were mentioned in the recent announcement, so they might not be included in the upcoming update.

There are other several improvements that we can expect to see this year. According to their 2023 milestones blog, we should be able to modify our carry capacity, cargo access distance, ship damage, vendor credits, afflictions, and also see new survival mechanics. However, these changes were not mentioned in the latest announcement, so they might come later.

The update will first come to Steam Beta players on Wednesday, January 17th. The rest of the players will receive the update two weeks later. However, the exact date for that has yet to be revealed.
